A Horror Story Every Woman Must Read

How could a human being - let alone a husband - disfigure a person in this way?  It happened to Zahida Parveen, and it happens to thousands of other female victims of "honor violence" each year in Pakistan.Read here for more of the story.

  2. Hi Amina... I watched her story at the National Geographic channel program. I feel for her. No one has the right to do this to her - or to any other human being.

  3. Unfortunately things like that happen everyday everywhere. :-( Only that in some parts of the world people don't talk about it openly and the people doing it aren't punished. :-(

  9. We're still lucky that women here are not treated as second citizen nor slave. does it have something to do with religion, the barbaric treatment of women?

  14. Hi Amina,

After reading Parveen's story, I really feel bad to know that this type of crime is common at Pakistan. I am greatly amazed how the law there is not taking this offense so seriously.

Thanks for sharing this story, it makes me realize that I should really stop complaining about some misfortunes I've experienced cause there are others who have bigger and more painful experiences than mine. I just really hope that no more women get to experience that kind of torture. I'm sorry for keeping this comment so long cause up to now, I just can't get over with her story. =(

  19. That's disgusting! And here I am worried about trifles like toilet seats being left up and hubby not saying "I love you!" often enough. This man is an animal...your blog is titled "It's MY life" but I really hope THIS STORY has nothing to do with your life personally. I'll be back again, thanks for stopping by my blog also. Take care.

  21. Some men in some parts of the world had been taught through generations that women is inferior to men.. altho they hide behind "religion" to make this statement politically correct, the truth is, these men are actually cowards and they have a flimsy little ego that could shatter any moment..

Which is why they resort to such behaviours as hurting women whom everybody know is the weaker sex and whom they should protect instead of hurt. And haven't anyone wonder why they can only hurt their wives or women who are related to them but not some foreign woman they don't know from 10,000 miles away? Because of that so-called power they give themselves and the so-called power these women in their lives give them!

Women should stand up for themselves and fight. If the men can do this to them than they can do it back to the men. Then its fair. And then we'll know who the real coward is..

    Just my two cents..

  24. I wasn't sure I had the stomach enough to read her story; but did. If people know this, talk about this, and put pressures on governments, social groups, and so called religious leaders perhaps we can put an end to this barbaric behavior.

He sent a note to reconcile, that blew me away. He shouldn't be allowed to communicate with her at all.

  25. I also wanted to add, I knit and crochet for various charities, one if in fact for battered women. It's an awful crime against humanity in any country.

  31. Holy crap.

I'm thinking of some sort of funny comment, but I don't have anything yet.

"I guess she'll have dinner ready on time next time" doesn't seem to cut it.

Cripes. Metal rod in the eyes? That guy's a real douche.

Reconcile? Seriously? I think he must just be clinically insane.
